  • Notes
    • I believe that she is the child baptized at Church of the Immaculate Conception on 25 August 1866. The child, Michael, is never mentioned by the family and cannot be found in any records. The record keeping practices at this parish were not great. Other records I have found from this parish are inaccurate and the priests are not consistent recording marriages. When I examined the records, it seemed likely that the priest did not record the information at the time of the event. Rather, he recorded them in batches, which could have been months after the event. It is more likely that the baptismal record has the incorrect name (Michael instead of Margaret) than that there was another child who was never mentioned and whose burial place cannot be found.

Further complicating the matter is the inconsistency of information in sources pertaining to her birth year. The death certificate states her birth as 10 July 1867 while the tombstone has 19 July 1868. The 1870 Census age 3 (1866); 1880 Census age 12 (1867); 1900 Census age 32, born Jul 1868; 1910 Census age 41 (1869); 1920 Census age 53 (1867). She was most likely born July 1867. Her brother, William, was born March 1869 making it unlikely that she was born eight months before in July 1868.
